Dong Ngac communal house and pagoda- A ancient line of Hanoi village

This pagoda have 59 apartments, the internal architecture  follow "Dinh" word, outside architecture  from the word "Quoc"

The pagoda was started up from time of King Le Than Tong (1653-1661) clearly merit Mr  Nguyen Phuc Luan and Ms Tran Thi Ngoc Luan. Two characters are named after the Buddhist in the pagoda.

Visitors to Hanoi but not to the West Lake in Hanoi is not considered, because this is an ancient symbol of Hanoi, along with To river and Nung mountain. Ho Khau is a village located in the ancient land. The village is next door to the lake  with To Lich river so called Ho Khau.

Tay Phuong pagoda - The unique sculpture art in Vietnamese pagodas

Pagoda is often called Tay Phuong pagoda, is located on the Tay Phuong hill, curved like hooks (former known as Cau Lau mount) about 50 m high, of Nguu Linh  Mount ( buffalo mountain ), Thach Xa Commune, Thach That district, belong Ha Tay province, Hanoi today. The pagoda distance center of Hanoi 40 km follow northwest, far from Son Tay town 18 km to the southeast.

From steep mountain path length of about 160, climb 238 steps by laterite to gate of pagoda. The place has three parallel-shaped "Tam" word (Chinese word), commonly known as the Thuong pagoda, Trung pagoda, Ha pagoda or Ho pagoda spirit name of the tow colossal statues guarding the main gate of a pagoda), a veranda floor separated by 1.6 m. Each house has two floors type matches roof, eight roof and 8 octagonal is the first knife rise curved with the flower, leaf, dragon, phoenix, lion. Roof cover two layers of tile: front tile layer on the snowbell leaf title, tile layer lining below the square, painted in color. The pagoda was built a long time and has been renovated several times in the century XVI, XVII, XVIII. In 1554, the temple was rebuilt on the old. In 1632, the temple built a 3 upper house and harem same corridor 20 rooms. In 1660, Tay Do Vuong Trinh Tac rebuild the pagoda.

By 1794, under Tay Son dynasty and of the pagoda was rebuilt, named Tay Phuong.

The temple in all three houses are decorated style sanctuary. System of worship in the pagoda is quite full, mostly carved jack-fruit wooden such as the Three World Buddhist statues, the Di Da Tam Ton statues , Tuyet Son statue, the statue of Bodhisattva Maitreya, the Bodhisattva Manjushri, the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, the Ananda, the Kasyapa, the Bat Bo Kim Cuong ... The One Pillar Pagoda (Vietnamese: Chùa Một Cột, formally Diên Hựu tự 延祐寺 or Liên Hoa Đài 蓮花臺) is a historic Buddhist temple in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It is regarded alongside the Perfume Pagoda, as one of Vietnam's two most iconic temples.

The pagoda was built by Emperor Lý Thái Tông, who ruled from 1028 to 1054. According to the court records, Lý Thái Tông was childless and dreamt that he met the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who handed him a baby son while seated on a lotus flower. Lý Thái Tông then married a peasant girl that he had met and she bore him a son. The emperor constructed the temple in gratitude for this in 1049,[1] having been told by a monk named Thiền Tuệ to build the temple, by erecting a pillar in the middle of a lotus pond, similar to the one he saw in the dream.

The Pagoda was located in what was then the Tây Cấm Garden in Thạch Bảo, Vĩnh Thuận district in the capital Thăng Long (now known as Hanoi). Before the pagoda was opened, prayers were held for the longevity of the monarch.[2] During the Lý Dynasty era, the temple was the site of an annual royal ceremony on the occasion of Vesak, the birthday of Gautama Buddha. A Buddha-bathing ceremony was held annually by the monarch, and it attracted monks and laymen alike to the ceremony. The monarch would then free a bird, which was followed by the people.

The temple was renovated in 1105 by Emperor Lý Nhân Tông and a bell was cast and an installation was attempted in 1109. However, the bell, which was regarded as one of the four major capital works of Vietnam at the time, was much too large and heavy, and could not be installed. Since it could not be tolled while left on the ground, it was moved into the countryside and deposited in farmland adjacent to Nhất Trụ Temple. This land was widely inhabited by turtles, so the bell came to be known as Quy Điền chung, which means Bell of the Turtle Farmland. At the start of the 15th century, Vietnam was invaded and occupied by the Ming Dynasty. In 1426, the future Emperor Lê Lợi attacked and dispersed the Chinese forces, and while the Ming were in retreat and low on weapons, their commanding general ordered that the bell be smelted, so that the copper could be used for manufacturing weaponry.

The temple is built of wood on a single stone pillar 1.25 m in diameter, and it is designed to resemble a lotus blossom, which is a Buddhist symbol of purity, since a lotus blossoms in a muddy pond. In 1954, the French Union forces destroyed the pagoda before withdrawing from Vietnam after the First Indochina War, It was rebuilt afterwards.

A replica was built in Thủ Đức in Saigon in the late 1950s and early 1960s
